This lovely day was brought to you by Andrea and Nate (awesome Christmas gift right here). We took the boys to see the Phoenix Symphony play Star Wars music. They also played some stuff from Close Encounters and The Planets. It was a space adventure day. We dressed Cason up in his Jedi costume and all the boys took a light saber. When we arrived, we were able to see all sorts of Star Wars characters and we took some pictures with them. It was a madhouse, so we were lucky to get the ones that we did. The one of Channing and Cameron standing with Darth Vader cracks me up! They just stand there like it’s no big deal. (you’d never get my mom to do this…or Cason for that matter). Vader’s hand is around Cameron’s neck! So funny! Good thing this was a nice Darth Vader!
The conductor gave a pre-concert speech to the kids about conducting and how it’s better to conduct a concert with a baton, rather than a light saber. He also taught the kids the notes to the Close Encounters theme so they could sing it in the concert.
After taking pictures, we folded an origami Yoda. Then we watched the symphony. Bob “rested” through some of it (ear infection had gotten the best of him). Channing seemed mostly attentive. Cameron kept asking about when the were going to play the Star Wars music (he’s really not a fan of Close Encounters or The Planets). Cason did believe think they were playing actual Star Wars music (even when they were). Finally they played a theme that they knew and they all got excited. We watched some Jedi’s duel it out with Vader on stage and the conductor stepped in at the end to defeat him. Cameron was excited about that and wanted to see it again.
So it was a fun trip to the symphony. We were glad it was a kids concert and full of families just like us with all their noisy kids too. Really, most did very well for as young as they were.

Sounds like a ton of fun ... especially the Origami part!
I was so excited to see Origami Yoda there in the midst of all that Star Wars hoopla!
I hope you don't mind, but I borrowed one of your pictures for www.origamiyoda.com.
(If you do mind, just let me know...)

This is great! Austin would have loved this. He is so into Star Wars right now. I wonder if they'll do it again next year.
You are fired! Why did you not tell me about this? Awesome.
LOL! Sorry. We got the tickets for Christmas. They were sold out months in advance! I think we were lucky to get some.
