We had such great time at Patrick’s Point this year! There were 29 of us in all (we missed Jason, Damon and Grandpa and Grandma this year). So it was a zoo, but tons of fun! We had 10 kids ages 9 and under. That made for some really crazy times! We celebrated 3 birthdays there – Holly (1), Cason (4), and Grandma Spann. We ate at Samoa Cookhouse a few times, visited Fern Canyon, Ferndale, Trinidad and Old Town Eureka, searched for agates on the beach, played int eh Sumeg Village, some went to the tide pools and we played lots of games and ate lots of yummy food! The kids loved roasting marshmallows and starbursts (and we also tried peeps, just for fun). It was fun for everyone to get away from busy life and lounge a bit (even if it was pretty cold this year). We had some gorgeous days at the beginning of the trip and then the fog settled in for several days. No rain though! Yay! A super fun, exhausting trip. Worth every minute of the lousy long drive to get there!
A day at the beach…
Fern Canyon – not quite the same as in years past. All the little bridges that went back and forth across the stream were gone, so there were logs crossing it. It made for some VERY wet little boys and wet tennis shoes (which took several days to dry)!
Elk!
Back at camp – cooking and playing games.
Birthday Celebrations!
Around the campfire…
Ferndale…
Loleta Cheese Factory (I guess you can call it that – the one room cheese factory…hmmm… the gardens in the back were much more impressive than the cheese factory – although the cheese was good).
Bob took Channing and Cameron to the tide pools with Grandpa Spann.
Sumeg village…
Trinidad…
Palmer’s Point – cute seals
Wedding Rock to see one last sunset
