Spring Break!

After several days in the 80s, we've thankfully dropped down to the 60s, but this is probably the last hurrah before hot weather hits for 5 about months. Cameron has had a week off from pre-school and Channing starts his week off tomorrow. We've had lots of fun this week!
On March 7th we went to the zoo. We try to go as often as possible during the winter (we have a pass, so we might as well use it alot while the weather is decent).
The boys loved seeing the Giraffes and Zebras up close.

We also went to Sting Ray Bay so the kids could get soaked trying to pet the rays. Cason wanted in on the action of course.

Check out the boys totally soaked shirts. You can see they had tons of fun! LOL! They always beg to go on the carousel at the end.

The boys had fun on family night playing soccer in the backyard with Bob. Cason had fun putting all the balls in the wagon and pulling it (Well he tried anyway. The wagon is heavy)! Cason loves to shoot hoops, but he's too short, so Bob helped him out a bit.

On Thursday we spent a fun-filled morning at Channing's Kindergarten class. (I wish I had some pics from this but I don't). They have a very interesting school day. In the morning they have a snack (oranges) and a drink and then they play outside for over an hour. They swing and play in the dirt and play on the slide etc... Cason wasn't sure what to make of all of it. The kids kept wanting to play with him and they'd take him into the yard and he'd come running back to me. It was funny.

After playtime, the kids come in and have story time. They light a candle during the story and then blow it out when it's done. Then they had a snack. It happened to be soup day (every Thursday is soup day), so we had a little vegetable soup and bread. The kids then had indoor playtime where they built "forts" out of large pieces of finished wood and silks. Very cute. Singing/Spanish time was next. They sang all sorts of songs (none of which I knew). All the kids seemed to know them well though and they had actions that went with them. Cameron was completely enthralled. After that was lunch and then we went home. That was a very short version of their day. It was pretty interesting to see how this school really functions. It's a very loving & calm atmostphere. There's no pressure to be something you aren't and everything is done in a very respectful manner. All the kids are happy (almost always) and they are eager to learn basic skills. I see now what other schools are often missing.

Friday night was an "Irish Celebration" at the church where we watched a sister in our ward and 2 others dance like the "Riverdance" group. They were amazing and I wish I had a picture or video of it. They taught us all a little Irish group dance afterward. It was a fun, easy going night.

Yesterday I took Channing & Cameron to a friends birthday party at a kiddie amusement park in downtown Phoenix. Of course they loved it! Cameron was pretty upset when he was 1-inch too short to go on 1 ride (the parachute one). Poor kid. Better luck next year! LOL! They had a great time though. I'm still feeling the effects of our Paddle Boat adventure. I don't think my back will recover for a few days. Ugh! It was a fun day (we were there for 5 hours), so it was a long day too!
